Lakes are great because you don't have to go to the coast and they're big enough where when people urinate in them, you're not going to feel a temperature change.

For people concerned about a lake's cleanliness or clarity, according to many Utahns, the clearest lake in Utah is Ceret Lake. It's by the Alta Ski Resort just east of Salt Lake.

According to Utah.com:

"Every Utah local has done this hike (if you haven't, repent ye). The best part about Cecret Lake? It never gets old. The wildflowers are the best in the state; the hike is just easy and lovely; the whole family will love it, and the sunsets just below Sugarloaf are incredible. The worst part about Cecret Lake? It's not so secret."

I've never made it up there but it looks pretty.

I guess there's just moose everywhere and the water looks clear enough to drink.

I actually prefer a nice lake to the ocean. The ocean you look out and have a moment of awe seeing how big it is, but it's usually all windy. Enough with the wind already. I like a nice placid lake with a moose. At the ocean you can't really see the wildlife except the seagulls. Who cares. It would be one thing if there was a humpback or dolphins jumping around but it's just a bunch of hippies and their dogs. I want the calm wilderness feel of a beautiful placid lake up in the mountains, reading John Grisham, eating Starbursts.
