Former Utah Jazz Coach Has a New Job
Why on earth would Quin Snyder go to Atlanta?
Coaching Trae Young is going to be a nightmare.
He shoots 40 pull up threes a game and never passes.
All of his teammates hate playing with him I'm sure. They had one fluke run in the playoffs a couple years ago but since then Young's stock has dropped. On The Ringer's Top 100 NBA Players this year, Young came in at 29th in the league. On that same list last year, he was ranked 15th.
Plus, he's becoming a stereotypical coach killer.
For Snyder, who struggled with Donovan Mitchell in Utah, Young is everything Snyder hated about Mitchell amplified by a thousand.
Snyder had to kowtow to Mitchell, especially late in games when Mitchell played hero ball for the last two minutes every night, but Young plays hero ball for 48 minutes every game.
Snyder's relationship with Mitchell was good for the first couple years, but after losing early in the playoffs for three years in a row it was just...over.
But at least Snyder had the Jazz as a contender for a top four seed in the west for his last couple of years there.
Atlanta isn't going to be near as competitive, but they're going to have all of the drama instantly. Young is ticked that he's been left behind in the "best young players in the league" discussions and thinks that he should be in the Eastern Conference Finals every year. That's going to be a problem. I'm just surprised Snyder wanted to be apart of it.
