Osmond Family Story Comes to the Stage in St. George
Utah’s most famous musical family is getting the spotlight in Southern Utah with the world premiere of “Can You Hear the Music: An Osmond Family Tribute.”
The new biographical musical runs Aug. 20 through Sept. 12 at The St. George Musical Theater, located at 905 S. Main Street in St. George. The production follows the Osmonds’ journey from small-town Utah singers to international entertainers, while emphasizing the family, faith and sense of purpose behind their success.
Merrill Osmond shared his excitement on social media, saying the tribute had finally arrived in St. George and that the family was thrilled and grateful to see the production come to life.
Long History in St. George
The show is especially fitting for Southern Utah. The Osmond family has a long history in the region, including concerts, charitable appearances and performances by the family’s second generation. Merrill and his sister Marie Osmond also call St. George home, giving the production an even stronger local connection.
Where It All Began
The Osmonds began as a barbershop quartet featuring brothers Alan, Wayne, Merrill and Jay before Donny joined the group. The family became one of the biggest musical acts of the 1970s, producing pop, rock and country hits while also finding television success through the popular “Donny & Marie” variety show.
New Show Production
St. George Musical Theater describes the new production as a heartfelt tribute to the family’s rise and enduring legacy. The show is directed by Robert Craig, with choreography by Shellie Thomas and musical direction by Melesa Kohler.
Tickets are available through St. George Musical Theater and are listed between $32 and $40.
