This Year, Go Pro with Your Costume

I know how it feels—every year you're trying to pull off a costume that really pops. You know, the one that turns heads, gets people talking, and makes you the new king of Halloween. Step aside, Jack Skellington! You've tried all the fun ones you've seen online, but they never come out quite right, and let's face it, you just aren't as crafty as the person who posted them.

This year, maybe you should get a professional to build your costume. But where do you go for that? Just a side note: those of you who are crafty should make yourselves known, like the people who decorate homes for Christmas. I mean, I see some of you on Etsy, but surely some of you could hang a seasonal shingle.

With so many theater production venues in our area, there are costumes floating around for sale or rent—costumes that have dazzled audiences, sold out shows, and transported people to fantastical worlds. I Googled a few local theater companies and found that most of them have costumes available for sale or rent. Look around, and you're bound to find something that'll knock your socks off—especially if you're going as a skeleton or Huck Finn (they don’t wear socks).

Or, idea number two: land a part in a play quickly, and use your costume from the production for Halloween. Genius, right?

So go for it this year and revise the role that had been put to rest just because the run of the play has finished.
