Elon’s New Political Party Reminds Some Utahns of Nauvoo Prophecy Recorded in a Pioneer Journal
With the recent passage of President Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill an unhappy Elon Musk suggested creating a new political party in the United States. He suggested forming the America Party which set off bells for those familiar with a century and a half old prophecy.
A Conversation with Joseph Smith was Recorded in a Journal
Mosiah Hancock was a young man living in Nauvoo, Illinois when Joseph Smith was alive and leading the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He records in his journal how Joseph stopped to talk with him after a sermon.
During their conversation Smith begins to tell him what will happen to the members of the church. How they will be driven from Illinois and make their way to the mountains. He also tells of events that will happen to the United States.
He says there will be two great political parties, the Democrat and Republican and they will go to war with each other. At the time Hancock reports the conversation there wasn’t a Republican party as Lincoln wouldn't be elected for more than 20 years.
Prophecy of a Third Party in Hancock’s Journal
At this point Smith mentions something interesting and this is what Hancock remembers him saying:
There will be two great political parties in this country. One will be called the Republican, and the other the Democrat party. These two parties will go to war and out of these two parties will spring another party which will be the Independent American Party.
It is kind of wild that Elon wants to form the America party as an independent to challenge those currently in power. You can find the Mosiah Hancock journal online and see the rest of the prophecy.

Who knows if Hancock remembered the conversation correctly or if Elon's party fits the bill, but it is interesting.
