The Bottom Line: Where Utah Stands On These Sitting Spaces
The Disparity of Public Toilets Throughout the U.S.
Nothing makes a person more grateful than being helped out in a dire situation. There are times when a restroom fits this description. However, all places are not equal. For some reason, the number of public toilets per 100,000 persons differs from state to state.
The eastern part of the country seems to believe you can hold it until you get home while the west and Midwest are much more accommodating. Parts of the south seem to think you can just use nature, because they are really low on available porcelain.
You can see how restrooms are dispersed across the U.S. and even other countries at the site from QS Supplies. Iceland is serious about their public spaces.
Wyoming is the Best Place to Stop in America
The number one state in the country by a large margin where you can stop for number two is Wyoming with a whopping 44 public restrooms per 100k citizens. I’m glad they border Utah just in case I need to sneak across the line in a pinch.
The beehive state isn’t bad with 19 per. Far better than next door in Nevada where they only have 7 and Arizona with 9. But both these states are in loo heaven compared to Louisiana and Mississippi who provide just one public rest stop for every 100k of citizens.

I’m not sure why there is such a disparity across the nation for public restrooms. It may be that the west is less populated than the east and you need more places to stop. Of course, that doesn’t explain Texas with just 3 per.
Apparently, the number of public restrooms is the only thing that is not bigger in Texas.
