New “Safest Suburb” in America is in Utah??
Some people say that the best movie about the suburbs is The 'Burbs from 1988 starring Tom Hanks. And they say that because Hanks delivers a great performance and gets hit in the groin and his wife is Princess Leia and one of his neighbors is the great Bruce Dern.
And then others say the best movie about the suburbs is one of John Hughes' movies about the Chicago suburbs. Either the Breakfast Club or Sixteen Candles?
And then there are those who say "what about American Beauty" with Kevin Spacey? And then somebody else chimes in and says Spacey was cast out of the garden and is living in Pacoima or some other hell hole.
But whether you like The 'Burbs or Spacey or Dern best doesn't really matter because you don't need a movie to visit the "Safest Suburb" in America. You only need to drive up to Lehi, UT (and get you a square donut while you're at it).
According to ABC4.com:
"The safest suburbs, according to SmartAsset’s analysis, were primarily in the Mountain West, Midwest, and East Coast, while many of the lower-ranking suburbs were in the South.
Ranking highest overall, though, was Lehi, Utah. Located roughly 30 miles south of Salt Lake City, Lehi had the lowest rate of excessive drinking (Utah as a whole has the lowest excessive drinking rate in the nation), as well as low rates of violent and property crimes. Nearby Layton, a 25-minute drive north of Salt Lake City, ranked third overall. (Link to Full Article)
