It was only a matter of time...

BYU's Luke Anderson, former Snow Canyon Warrior, had a monumental day at the plate to help BYU to a 15-6 win over the University of San Francisco.

Anderson went 5-for-5 with 3 home runs, 6 RBI, and 2 doubles!

That's a Roy Hobbs type day for the Freshman outfielder.

He was the first Cougar to hit three home runs in a game since Keaton Kringlen did it back in 2017.

Since BYU has started conference play in the West Coast Conference, Anderson leads the Cougars in several offensive categories.

Per the Voice of the Cougars, Greg Wrubell:

"Cool hand, hot bat: Luke Anderson in WCC games, with team ranks in conference play--

Avg: .500 (1st)

SLG: .895 (1st)

OBP: .525 (2nd)

Hits: 19 (1st)

Runs: 8 (t-2nd)

Doubles: 6 (1st)

Home runs: 3 (t-1st)

RBI: 8 (t-1st)

Total bases: 34 (1st)

Sac bunts: 2 (t-1st)

Assists: 12 (t-3rd)"

Coach Trent Pratt said after the game that:

"Luke has been playing really good for us and his performance tonight was special. We had a bunch of guys step up in this series including Cooper Vest who had another couple of big hits tonight. The crowd was awesome today. They were loud and we fed off their energy.” (BYUcougars.com, full link to article)

Anderson was helped by another former Region 9 star, Cooper Vest who went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI and a run scored.

And while we're at it, BYU has been lead all season in hitting by Austin Deming, another Snow Canyon baseball alum who is hitting .377 on the year and leads the team with 7 home runs.

BYU is now 11-19 overall and 5-7 in WCC play.
