Summer League Rolls on For Utah Jazz
When Utah tips off against the Dallas Mavericks in Sin City this Saturday the 13th, they will have three games already under their belt.
Although the 2-1 record gained in Salt Lake City means nothing in Las Vegas, the Jazz have already had some time to gel and iron out some weaknesses, an advantage only few teams have at this point.
With health on their side, the Jazz, have set their sights on the championship game on July 22nd.
All 30 NBA teams will be in Vegas as opposed to the mere 3 we saw in the Salt Lake City showcase, and instead of the six games played in Salt Lake, the NBA 2K25 showcase will feature a total of 71 games.
Starting today, the 12th of July throughout July 21st, NBA fans can expect no less than 7 games on a daily basis.
The format, Per NBA.com’s Brian Martin, looks like this:
“Each team will play at least five games, including four games from July 12-19. After each team’s first four games, the top four teams will advance to participate in the playoffs, beginning with a semifinal doubleheader on Sunday, July 21 at 2 ET and 4 ET on ESPN. The two winning teams from the semifinal games will meet in the championship game on Monday, July 22 at 9 ET on ESPN.” (Brian Martin, NBA.com)
With only 4 playoff teams, the chance to even qualify will be a monumental task, ensuring that every single game has massive sway.
It can be easy to pass this off as summer league ball, and throw a “who cares” out there, but in all reality its a big deal to get as far as possible into this tournament for the athletes.
For every hot shot rookie expected to make it big are multiple others who are just hoping for one shot in the association.
These games, despite not being the most crisp brand of basketball one can witness, mean a lot to the guys on the floor, creating top notch competition.
The further you get, the bigger the game.
The bigger the game, the more eyes on these players who are hoping for a chance to prove themselves.
Through ESPN’s multiple channels and NBA TV, fans can catch all 76 games if they want to see the biggest names in this year’s draft class or even catch an up and coming sophomore or two.
Single day tickets, allowing access to the full slate of games for the day run as low as $45.00 for adults, and $35.00 for kids with more luxurious packages available.
For Jazz fans In southern Utah, a trip to Salt Lake City to watch the Jazz takes roughly 4 hours, to go check them out in Las Vegas is less than two.
And before one uses the rebuttal, “I don’t want to watch the summer league team”, just remember this isn't your standard summer league team.
With Taylor Hendricks, Brice Sensabaugh, and all three draft selections from this year’s class in Cody Williams, Isaiah Collier and Kyle Filipowski taking part in the action, your witnessing a large majority of what Utah’s regular season rotation is set to look like.
If rumors come to fruition and a Jordan Clarkson or John Collins were to be moved via trade, most of these players would see an uptick in minutes.
These aren't just your summer stash players, looking for two-way deals or a G-league contract.
These guys are largely the same Utah Jazz you will see take the floor in October’s season opener.
Utah’s Las Vegas NBA 2K25 Summer League Schedule looks like this:
7/13, Saturday- @ Dallas Mavericks
7/15, Monday- @ Sacramento Kings
7/17, Wednesday- VS Toronto Raptors
7/18, Thursday- VS Los Angeles Clippers
Game 5- To be determined.
If you have any reason to be excited about the Jazz for next year, the reason lies most likely within one or two of these players suiting up during the summer league, so sit back, relax and enjoy your 2024-2025 Utah Jazz a few months early.
