Utah, It’s Been Fun
Shower Thought - October 20, 2025
I have a buddy who plays blackjack. He goes to Mesquite or Wendover or wherever and doubles down. I do not play because I cannot count. But he is very sensitive to the table to the dealer and to the feeling of the place. He senses the vibration of the other players and the cigarette smoke in the room. He is like Tonto.
If he is hitting and rolling he has the ability to sense when a cooling is coming. He feels it in the wind. He packs up his chips and heads to Burger King. Any schmuck can have a good run at the Virgin River. Then they keep trying to double down when they start losing until they have lost everything. It takes a good player to sense the bad run coming and get out.
Unfortunately Kyle Whittingham did not get out and head to Burger King. He assumed his crazy run against BYU when they were independent and had no NIL or Power Four recruits meant that he could beat them anytime he wanted. He thought a loss like last year was a fluke. He thought he could come back win and go out on top. Well poor boss lost again and if he keeps coming back he may lose every chip he has. Kyle you are the greatest Ute of all time. Here is your statue. But when it comes to the BYU rivalry it is not only time to walk away it is time to run.
