Here’s Where Utah is Falling Behind in Sports

Utah was named the best overall state by the US News and World Report in 2025. It did well in all the categories. First in fiscal stability, third in economy. Fourth in education, third in infrastructure, seventh in hobos.

Utah is awesome compared to a lot of other states. Sports 3 pro teams now if you count soccer. Hopefully gonna get more with what Ryan Smith is doing.

But there's one area Utah is falling behind big time.

College baseball programs!

Utah has four division one baseball programs. North Carolina, has 18! Whoa whoa, well that's because North Carolina is a warm weather state! Alright, Indiana has 9. And Indiana is freezing and nobody cares about baseball out there. Connecticut has 6 and it's Connecticut! I can't name one of them. Connecticut has the same population as Utah. If you count all levels of college baseball including JUCOS Utah has 6 programs. Pennsylvania has 105!

Utah is sports crazy, has great baseball talent every year, and here are self respecting institutions like Utah State, Weber State and SUU, that don't sponsor a baseball program. Utah State hasn't since 1968, Weber State since 1974, SUU since 2011.

If you have a D1 basketball program you should have a baseball program. This is America. If you need to add another women's sport to offset it, add flag football. Everybody wins! People will come ray, people will definitely come.
