Bob Stoops was at Oklahoma for 19 years. He won a national championship his second season in 2000, and won the big 12 13 times. Inexplicably he decided to retire out of the blue in 2016. He won 11 games that year and 11 games the year before. He turned the program over to an ungrateful brat named Lincoln Riley. He handed him an 11 win team. Stoops didn't hold on like Bobby Bowden or Joe Pa. He retired at 56 years old. Why? So he could go do big noon kickoff on Fox. So he could spend time with his family that was already grown up?

Some are reporting that Kyle Whittingham is might pull a stoops and retire after this season. Why? Saban quit because he was annoyed at the NIL and portal. You have a pretty good NIL going relatively. And the only players that leave your program are the ones who go to the NFL. You got the golden boy corner canyon quarterback. They usually go to places like USC, Ohio State, or Brigham Young. You got him. And you might get his buddy next year. Everybody loves Scalley in his only two games on the national stage they gave up 1000 yards of offense to CJ Stroud and made Sean Clifford look like Dan Marino. Don't be magnanimous like Stoops, Kyle. Be selfish like Bowden and Paterno. You've sewed for 19 years, dreaming of a world where Utah could really compete for a national title. You're finally living in that world. It's time to reap Kyle. Not retire.
