The transfer portal is a cruel mistress.

We're all hoping that Utah Tech will be able to get some playmakers in the portal again this year but here's who we know is on their way out...

1. Joey Hobert - Sophomore WR (entered on Dec 7th)

Hobert is the biggest loss because he was literally the best wide receiver in the country this year and set every single season receiving record of note for UTU. He's probably the best player to ever suit up for the Trailblazers. UTU got him from Washington State after the coaching change at Wazzu and now he's headed out.

I'm assuming he'll go to a Power 5 school in the west, but he could play anywhere in the country.

2. Quali Conley - Sophomore RB (going to San Jose State)

Conley is from Fresno so it makes sense that he'd want to transfer closer to home. He was electric from the start. In the Spring season of Covid in 2021 he had 400 yards in six games and four touchdowns including a 75 yard TD against New Mexico State.

Utah Tech runs the "spread n shred" and we always think how good an offense that is for quarterbacks and receivers but Conley had huge production in the system his whole career at UTU.

3. Tyrell Grayson - Sophomore DB (offered by Colorado State)

Grayson was arguably the Trailblazers best defensive player over the past two seasons. He lead them in tackles in many games in 2021 and was near the top several games in 2022.

He was a killer helping stop the run, in pass coverage and blitzing off the edge. He is going to be tough to replace.

Other players currently in the transfer portal for UTU include Freshman defensive lineman from California, Mackavelli Malotumau and Sophomore offensive lineman Cannon Panfiloff from Roy Utah.
