There are those who looked forward to back-to-school shopping and those who were like: "You can't make me go back."

Nowadays kids just go on their phones and send a bunch of links to their mom. Get me this wench.

If you were a kid in the 90's you may have gotten your picture taken at a little place called JCPenney.

Plus they had all the stuff for cheap that would get you made fun of by all the snobby kids in Abercrombie.

Unfortunately, news came out this week that JCPenney, like several other retailers recently is closing stores.

Luckily, it's only eight and none of them are in Utah.

Here's the list of store closing per themirror.com (LINK TO FULL ARTICLE):

  • The Shops at Tanforan in San Bruno, California
  • The Shops At Northfield in Denver, Colorado
  • Pine Ridge Mall in Pocatello, Idaho
  • West Ridge Mall in Topeka, Kansas
  • Westfield Annapolis Mall in Annapolis, Maryland
  • Fox Run Mall in Newington, New Hampshire
  • Asheville Mall in Asheville, North Carolina
  • Charleston Town Center in Charleston, West Virginia

There are seven JCPenny's in Utah including in St. George and for now we're being spared.

Per Axios, a spokesperson for the company said: (LINK TO FULL ARTICLE)

“While we do not have plans to significantly reduce our store count, we expect a handful of JCPenney stores to close by mid-year… The decision to close a store is never an easy one, but isolated closures do happen from time to time due to expiring lease agreements, market changes or other factors.”

How often do you shop at JCPenney and are you freaking out?
