If I learned one thing from Newman, it was "if you control the mail, you control information!"

The USPS, which everybody rips on constantly for being too slow, and for losing packages, and for 'going postal' has big changes coming that is causing people to panic.

According to Newsweek: (LINK TO FULL ARTICLE)

"The United States Postal Service (USPS) has announced upcoming modifications to First-Class Mail services, aiming to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

The changes, set to take effect later this year, are expected to generate an estimated $36 billion in savings over the next decade, according to USPS. Newsweek reached out to financial experts for comment."

What this means for us on the ground is that some first class mail will be delivered slower than usual.

Here's the breakdown:(LINK TO FULL ARTICLE)

"According to USPS, the following adjustments will be made to first-class mail:

  • 75 percent of First-Class Mail will retain its current service standards.
  • 14 percent of First-Class Mail will see an improvement in delivery times.
  • 11 percent of First-Class Mail will experience slightly longer delivery times."

The postal service has said to those who are worried, basically chill out. This is going to barely effect anyone. There will be some deliveries that might take a day longer than normal but that's going to be a small percentage of deliveries.

For me, this makes very little impact but for those that use the USPS for business or everyday it adds up.

The changes are going to start in April and ramp up through July.
