Cody Barton has been in the NFL since 2019 being selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the 3rd round, 88th overall.

In the midst of his sixth season at the highest level, the former linebacker that was the Utah Utes leading tackler in 2018, looks to get better each and every year.

The former Brighton Bengal standout had solid showings in Seattle with his best year coming in 2022 behind 136 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 interceptions and six passes defended.

Barton spent last season in Washington, appearing in 13 games (4 less than the previous season) for the Commanders registering an interception to pair with 121 tackles.

Now Barton finds himself on his 3rd team in as many years, suiting up for the Denver Broncos.

7 games into the season, Barton sits 2nd in total tackles on a Broncos defense currently ranked in the NFL’s top 5 for opponent points per game (15.1).

Barton has been impactful in the Mile High for a Broncos team outperforming expectations at 4-3, and yet the best may be yet to come.

Last night on Thursday night football, Barton’s Broncos beat up on the New Orleans Saints, 33-10, out in Louisiana.

In the victory Barton was an absolute menace doing just about anything and everything a defender can do, putting together a performance worthy of a solo highlight reel.

The total accumulation of stats is as follows:

Tackles, sacks, forcing fumbles, gathering fumbles, scoring off a fumble, knocking down passes.

You would be hard pressed to find something positive that Barton did not do.

In fact Barton woke up as the highest graded Bronco from the week 7 win, edging past fellow Ute, Garett Bolles:

Barton helped jumpstart the Broncos journey to domination by forcing this fumble on Saints rookie QB Spencer Rattler:

Then with a solid lead, Denver went after Rattler by sending a cornerback blitz.

Ja’Quan McMillian got home and Cody Barton snatched what was statistically ruled a fumble (ignore the pick-six caption) away resulting in his first ever touchdown in the NFL.

Yet it wasn't just the things that could be counted as stats that Barton did right.

Here he is going stride for stride with Saints WR Mason Tipton.

Yes, he did drop the interception, and he held himself accountable for it later, but still great to see those steps taken in the pass coverage department.

The cherry on top of it all, the way you know for a fact that you balled out, is getting that post game interview and Barton even secured one of those at the end of the night.

It was a great win for Denver, a dominant performance from Barton and hopefully for Denver, Utah and Brighton fans, just a sample of more to come.
