Hard to believe it was ten years ago when Tim Patrick suited up for the Utah Utes for the first time.

His first year in Salt Lake City was a tune up season with 6 receptions, 177 yards and an average of 11.1 yards a snag.

But before Patrick could fully gel with the team, he sustained an injury late into the season that would eventually be the culprit for a season ending injury to the start of the 2015 year.

Using a medical redshirt, Tim remained optimistic and returned to the gridiron for his final collegiate year leading the Utes in receptions (45), yards (711) and receiving touchdowns (5).

His bounce back year was enough to put him on NFL team’s radars, but not enough to garner a selection in the 2017 NFL draft.

Facing an uphill battle was no new thing and Tim spent time with the Ravens and 49er’s in camps and throughout preseason trying to earn his way.

He eventually found a home in the rockies by joining the Broncos practice squad.

Working his way through the ranks, Patrick became a common name in the Broncos receiving corps over the next 4 years (2018-2021).

Despite a broken hand in 2019 limiting him to 8 games, Patrick still found ways to make an impact when on the gridiron.

Those 4 seasons saw Tim start 37 games while appearing in 55.

Patrick totaled 143 receptions for 2,009 yards and 12 touchdowns while accounting for 101 1st downs.

Unfortunately the injury bug refused to leave Patrick alone and a knee injury forced him to miss the 2022 season, and then a torn Achilles forced another lost year in 2023.

After not appearing in a game for two years, Patrick finally returned this preseason snagging 5 receptions for 44 yards and touchdown in a triumphant return.

Despite the return, Denver decided today while trimming down to the required 53 man roster, to part ways with the receiver.

At 30 years old the long time Bronco will look to suit up for a new team in the regular season for the first time in his professional career.

For Utah fans it can be tough to see a fan favorite go through it like he has, yet based on how his career has unfurled thus far, it’s fair to assume that Patrick will find a way to succeed with odds stacked against him.

Time will tell but in the meantime, Ute faithful, among with many others, will be cheering for a successful new chapter for Tim Patrick.
