Heads up! Here are the Worst SPEED TRAPS in Utah
There's nothing worse than getting lost in a Tom Petty song going 93 MPH through Fillmore and seeing the police zip out of his spot in the median to ruin your life.
Most people have a pretty good sense of where cops hangout on their commute and know to pump the brakes. There's also apps and radar and stuff that can help you avoid getting nabbed.
Here are some of the most notorious speed traps in the state according to me and some Utahns online.
Mantua
I've heard the famous Mantua Cop isn't dishing them out as much as he used to. When I was going to college at Utah State, every time I drove passed there the cop had somebody pulled over.
But according to word of mouth and some posts I've seen, they might not be as aggressive up there as they used to be.
From u/uintagirl on Reddit: (LINK TO FULL POST)
"The rumor is that the state got after them and told them they can't make it a speed trap. I don't go over that way as often as I used to, but it does seem like they are only pulling over the most egregious speeders. The last few times it's been state troopers further up the canyon (headed towards Logan) instead of the Mantua police."
2100 South 1300 East in Salt Lake
I don't drive enough up there to know about how bad this one is.
Highway 7 near Desert Color in St. George, UT
I've gotten pulled over here a couple of times.
A cop seems to be there 100% of the time.
Another one that got a lot of attention was in Salt Lake at Foothill between 21st and 17th South.
