“Incredible Character”…Joe Rogan Shares Strong Opinion about Mormons and Utah
Joe Rogan just shared a pretty strong take about Mormons and the state of Utah on his podcast a week or so ago.
I recommend watching this. Language warning: several expletives.
He was talking with the Peter Berg who made American Primeval which is the show on Netflix that has Brigham Young in it and the Mountain Meadows Massacre.
And while they're talking about it, Rogan says:
"Mormons are the nicest people, my next door neighbors used to be Mormons, they're the nicest (expletive) people. I know a ton of Mormons because I know a ton of people in Utah..."
Then Berg says: "Utah is beautiful, beautiful, beautiful state. Salt Lake is a cool city...so I'm down with the whole state."
Rogan then goes into how Mormons responded to the musical The Book of Mormon.
"They have a great sense of humor. Like when Matt Stone and Trey Parker did The Book of Mormon musical [the Mormons] took out a full page ad in the Playbill so they're like if you want to know more about Mormonism come visit like find out the real thing! So instead of protesting and suing and attacking them and they just took out a (expletive) ad. I think that shows incredible character."
Berg then goes on to relate that story to how the Mormons treated him when he came out and how they don't try and hide from Mountain Meadows and were very open to him and invited him to out to Salt Lake even though as Berg says they knew the show would probably be "inflammatory" about Brigham and Mountain Meadows, they were still very gracious.
