Don’t Miss Your Chance to See this Majestic Arch in Southern Utah
Natural arches formed in the sandstone of Utah are inspiring and there is one in Snow Canyon State Park that isn’t always available for hikers to see. Johnson Canyon is seasonally protected for wildlife during certain parts of the year.
Memorial Day Weekend Guided Tours of Johnson Canyon
Rangers from Snow Canyon State Park will be leading a guided tour of Johnson Canyon where you can see this arch up close. See the events page here for the times and other presentations taking place in this amazing state park.
Registration is required so don’t dawdle if you want to experience this moderate 2-mile hike this Memorial Day Weekend. There are other events happening as well where you can learn how water carved the area and the bats that live in the caves nearby.
There is a Fee to Hike in the State Parks
If you decide to visit Johnson Canyon without a guided tour, the trail begins outside of Snow Canyon with a parking area near the southern entrance near Ivins. There is a fee that you need to pay otherwise you will be fined.

The trail is not hard but is too rough for strollers. Take plenty of water and stay on the designated trail. Dogs and other pets are not allowed on this hike. A wooden fence marks the place where you can see the arch.
