Ray Hosner Returning as Head Coach at Pine View
There are those who, when asked to send over a quote about Ray Hosner, text back something longer than my arm.
Good things pour out of them at a moment’s notice about a coach who has obviously impacted their lives in a big way.
“Me and my older brother, who played for Coach Hosner, still attribute the men we are today to him,” said Tyler Heaton, a former star lineman at Pine View.
“He’s a mentor that I can happily say is still a part of my life and still cares not only about me but about every player who has ever played for him.”
Hosner had to leave his coaching position after the 2021 season due to health issues. A prerequisite for his return was receiving positive results on his PET scans.
“The administration came and talked to me, and we talked about, you know, getting back into it,” Hosner said. “I said, ‘Well, I’ve got my PET scans coming up. And if my tumor is gone and I don’t have to go in for surgery again, I’ll do it.’ My scans came back great, so I’m excited—for my family and for me—because they get stuck with me for a little bit longer.”
Hosner is excited to rejoin the coaching fraternity in Region Nine.
“I’m pumped up,” said Hosner. “I’m excited. I’m excited for the kids. I’m excited for the competition in the community.
We’ve got great coaches down here—great men who are leading young men to become great husbands and great fathers.”
When asked about Hosner’s return, longtime Panther announcer Kelly Campbell said:
“Ray Hosner is a great man and mentor. Him coming back as the head coach at Pine View is a great thing for everyone involved—especially the young men. They will reap the benefits of being led by Ray on and off the field. They will become better athletes, better students, and overall better young men. Ray is a blessing to all who know him, and I am grateful to call him my friend, my brother.”
Principal Brett Gifford talked about how grateful he is that Coach Hosner is healthy and ready to return to the sideline at Pine View.
“He has focused on instilling character, building relationships, and his dedication to creating future leaders has made him a great example and leader for our football program. I am looking forward to seeing the continued growth and success of Panther football with Coach Hosner at the helm.”
The upcoming season will be Hosner’s 21st as head coach at Pine View.
