Air conditioning was invented sometime around the 1970's when parents were spanking their teenage children with those yellow wiffle ball bats.

And they were spanking them because it was just too dang hot and the kids were running around with Led Zeppelin shirts and they could have been drinking and coming home late and saying phrases like: "so is your old man!" and it just became overwhelming for parents, in the heat of summer, to sit down and look their kids in the face. So they'd just start wailing.

After a while it became a social health issue, and they thought, how can we cool these parents down?

And some smart engineers somewhere in Los Alamos came up with the idea to tell the people to just leave their fridges open. And then that evolved into refrigerating air and having pipes blow it through vents at them all day. (This was before Al Gore was born).

Now we all have AC and we just run it all day to the point we have to put blankets over us while we watch Netflix and meanwhile it's 110 degrees outside.

For those interested, the experts have weighed in on where the temperature should be set.

Where Experts Say to Keep Your AC During Summer

According to USA Today: (LINK TO FULL ARTICLE)

"The best temperature to set your air conditioning is 78 degrees Fahrenheit when you wake up, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Energy Star program. Energy companies in FloridaMaryland and Missouri also recommend thermostats at 78 degrees during summer months."

Yow!

78 degrees?
