Utah Has Best Fans in the World Except in One Sport
Shower Thought - November 11, 2025
Some cities have a "black sheep" sports franchise that no one cares about. Chicago has one.
Everyone loves the Cubs, Wrigley sells out every afternoon. The Bears are all anyone talks about on sports radio. The Blackhawks are a heritage NHL team that everybody cares about. The Bulls are irrelevant, but that’s MJ’s team, so people still care. But the Chicago White Sox have no support. It doesn't make sense.
They've been around just as long as the others. They've won just as little as the others. They’ve had stars like "the Big Hurt," Paul Konerko, and Shoeless Joe. Why does no one go to Comiskey? They are 27th in the league for attendance. Is it because it's in the ghetto, or because it has no charm or atmosphere? Well, I guess.
In Utah, fans are great right now for almost every sport except one. The Jazz and Mammoth are always well attended. BYU football and basketball are sold out! Utah State basketball has one of the best venues in the West! Utah football! The MUSS is the best student section in the world, according to ESPN anytime they go there and suck up.
But where’s the MUSS at Utah basketball games? It’s the same fanbase; the same students as football. What’s going on? The Huntsman Center is empty and quiet every game. Nobody goes. Students don't go. It's the Comiskey Park of Salt Lake. It's sad to see every year. It used to be something.
