8th year NFL Veteran and former University of Utah Ute, Garrett Bolles, came to terms with the Denver Broncos today on a shiny new 4 year contract extension that could total up to 82 million with 42 of that guaranteed.

Bolles, was drafted out of Utah in 2017 by the very same Broncos with the 20th pick in the first round to play left tackle and has spent his entire career in the Mile High City.

Playing out the last year of his contract, Bolles was largely expected to test the waters of free agency at 32 years old.

Instead he and the Broncos find resolution with 4 weeks remaining in the regular season, proving that both are quite content to continue a long standing relationship.

The deal solidifies Bolles as the constant source of blindside protection for rookie quarterback, Bo Nix, and provides an opportunity for Bolles and Denver’s patience with one another pay off.

With the Broncos currently 8-5 and in a position to make the postseason for the first time since 2015, Bolles could be a part of the first winning season in Denver since 2016, which would be the first winning season of his career.

Garrett was a starter since day one and has seen all the ups and downs that come with a rebuilding franchise appearing in 112 total games.

This year’s newly discovered success can be partially pointed towards Bolles, as his pass blocking grade has been top 5 out of all offensive tackles this year.

The emergence of Broncos quarterback, Bo Nix, has been a great story, as seeing a rookie QB play winning football so on is such a rarity.

As one can see below, Bolles has been making sure the young gunslinger has ample time to read routes, set his feet and make the throws.

The franchise legacy and the upside of having a new, promising QB could even be part of the reason why Bolles took a slight price cut as Ian Rapoport stated that he could have garnered as much as “$22 million to $25 million-plus in free agency” instead of the $20.5 they settled on.

Bolles would later tell the media “this offense fits me” and alluded to the fact that he will likely be a Bronco for life.

To have one athlete stay with one team is a rarity in professional sports and it appears Bolles could be one of the few who does so.

The Denver Broncos have made it no secret that they seek consistency and performance from the big guys up front and anchoring down Bolles is a major part of that.

Bolles and the Broncos reemerge from a bye week to host the Indianapolis Colts this Sunday at 2:25 Utah time.

The Colts currently sit at 6-7 on the year and are one of the few teams still within striking distance for the playoff spot that Denver currently holds.

The Broncos can create some major cushion with a home victory which would boost their 72 % odds of a playoff berth to 88 %. (NFL.com)

We look forward to that game and many more with Garrett Bolles holding up the left side of the line.
