Shower Thought - September 10, 2025

I remember being at Raiders training camp five years ago in Napa. One of the players drove up in this purple crossover SUV-looking thing. I had never seen anything like it. It looked great, and when I walked past the front of it, I realized it was a Lamborghini. A Lambo SUV. What? I should not have been surprised, because now these types of SUVs are everywhere. Porsche Cayenne, Ford Mustang SUV, Alfa Romeo makes one, Aston Martin too. And whenever I see one, my thought is yes, they look amazing. They are sleek, European, beautiful. But is this really necessary? You are the top sports car brands in the world. You go fast, you race. Porsche wins Le Mans. So what is going on? Why are you infringing on the SUV market? That is supposed to be the domain of the Ford Explorer and the Hyundai Santa Fe. What are you doing here?

This is the same way I feel about college football scheduling games on Friday nights. An article I read today said Friday has become an increasingly important college football night across networks. It makes sense. Friday night is one of the few windows still untouched by NFL programming. Yes, because the NFL has respect for high school football. That is where all their players come from. ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, ESPN, Fox, what are you doing on Friday nights? I understand you look good and it is a great product, but it seems unnecessary. Stay in your lane.
