College Football’s Gullibility for Star Ratings
Transcript:
"The goal of any great gangster is to become a made man. I know that from watching moveis. Godfather, Goodfellas, Casino. In Goodfella's Joe Pesci's whole goal in life is to become, made because once your made nobody can whack you. You have that protection. You're given respect not just by your own family but by other gangs. It's a label that stays with you for life.
It's like getting a 5 star rating as a high school quarterback. If you get made as a 5 star qb as a 17 year old kid. You've got it made. It doesn't matter how many times you screw up, you'll always be considered a 5-star because a group of of 45 year old dudes in windbreakers had a meeting and determined your destiny. DJ Uieungeleli was made when he was 17 years old. 5-star quarterback. Arm talent, mobility, 6'5" He went on to derail the Clemson dynasty because he stunk. Didn't matter. Got another shot at Oregon State, he's a 5 star high school quarterback he's going to Corvalis...they went 8-5 after going 10-3 the year before, doesn't matter he's a made man, he'll get another shot! Florida State! Huge NIL, have won 17 games in a row, they want the 5 star QB, he lost to the Ramblin' Wreck! In week 0. But... it doesn't matter. he'll get drafted. And it won't be because of his college resume, it'll be because he got 5 stars. He can't get whacked. Never go against the star rating."
