Gwyneth Paltrow on Trial Today in Park City, UT
Listen, I suck at skiing. Which is why I feel bad for Gwyneth Paltrow.
Back in 2016, she takes a trip out to Deer Valley for a ski day.
Unfortunately, a la Sonny Bono and myself, she sucks at skiing and gets into a crash with another skier.
Now, unfortunately the skier she hit was an optometrist who is now suing her.
Bet he didn't see that one coming!
He's saying that she was skiing recklessly and that after she ran into him she didn't try and help him.
Here's the opening statement from Terry Sanderson, the plaintiff's lawyer:
Something key to this is that the incident happened on a bunny hill with ski instructors and children around. Meaning they probably weren't going very fast.
According to the plaintiff's attorney, the reason Paltrow wasn't paying attention is because she was looking up at her children who were coming down the hill.
The plaintiff is also accusing Paltrow of a hit-and-run, saying that she bolted from the accident. Here is what Paltrow's lawyer said about that:
Here's a picture of the plaintiff Terry Sanderson, the retired doctor:
He is suing Paltrow for $300,000 dollars.
Paltrow's attorney says that the the plaintiff is a liar and baited Paltrow into the accident:
Whether she was baited into the accident or not, or whether Sanderson is just trying to get a payday from a celebrity he saw on the hill is immaterial to me.
Accidents happen all the time on ski slopes. When you go up on the hill you understand that. This clown is trying to get $300,000 dollars because he got in a slow speed tangle up on a bunny hill. Give me a break!
Set Paltrow free and make this guy pay for her court fees.
