This Saturday the Utah State Aggies (1-1) will host the 12th ranked team in the Utah Utes. (2-0).

The “Battle of the Brothers” has been ongoing since 1892 when the Agricultural college of Utah took home a 12-0 victory over Utah.

Since then, per Utah States website, 112 matches have taken place making it a rivalry that has stood the test of time. Mostly.

The rivalry, although lengthy has not been continuous, as Utah Vs Utah State hasn't taken place in 9 years to this exact day in 2015.

That was a 24-14 win in Salt Lake City and the 2nd consecutive win for the Utes at the time.

That win streak carries into Saturday for the Utes who spend the next two games away from rice Eccles where they have compiled a 2-0 record.

This will be the first time Utah has visited Cache Valley since 2012, which was ironically the last time Utah State knocked off the Utes in a 27-20 victory.

Utah State finished that 2012 season 11-2, finished 16th in the AP Top 25 poll, and went undefeated in the WAC to give you an idea of how long ago that was.

Utah State has a win in their last three match ups, but if you widen the view, Utah has won 9 of the last ten games dating back to 2003.

In fact, Utah has won 14 of the last 15 games since 1998.

The Utes longest winning streak was in this time frame spanning 12 games straight from 1998-2009.

Utah leads the series overall going 79-29-4 against the Aggies.

Utah State’s largest winning streak took place in the 60’s from 1965-1968 for 4 games straight.

With the match up taking place in Logan, The Aggies have won 11 games against Utah on home turf whereas Utah has 26 road victories to their name when traveling through sardine canyon.

Utah’s largest margin of victory over USU actually occurred on the road when they took down the Aggies in 2008 with a final 58-10 victory.

Utah fans need not be reminded that the 2008 year bore witness to an undefeated team and a Sugar Bowl victory over Alabama.

The Aggies largest win went down in 1974 where they blanked Utah to the tune of a 34-0 ball game also happening in Logan.

The tightest game between the two was a 1 point decision in favor of Utah State in 1967 taking place in Salt Lake City.

As far as scoring goes in this match up, Utah State is averaging right around 11.6 points per game.

Utah is good for about 23.6 a game unofficially.

Looking to the future, fans can’t expect a yearly contest, but can know for sure that these teams will play officially two more times after this Saturday's tilt.

Once in 2026 and once more in 2031, both in Salt Lake City where Utah has gone 53-18-4 VS the Aggies.

Utah State’s only home game in the scheduled three game series sees the home team as 20 point underdogs.

Expect a lot of Aggie blue and masses of Utah Red in what will at least be a fun atmosphere as rivals are reborn.

Kickoff goes down at 2:30 mountain time with the game airing on CBS Sports Network.

Although similar stats can be found on Utah’s website, USU’s database seems to be a bit more up to code as Utah’s site is missing a handful of past games such as 1999-2001.
