There's nothing more freeing than driving a car barefoot.

It's like you're a redneck back in the Garden of Eden.

You feel things in the gas pedal and brake that you didn't know about before. You're made to remember a Mountain Dew you spilled on the floor mat weeks ago.

It's a great little experience, but is it legal?

According to KSL.com, it's legal but not recommended. KSL spoke with UHP Sergeant Cameron Roden.

"One of the weirdest questions troopers get? Do I have to wear shoes while driving in Utah? Roden said no – but driving without something on your feet is not a good idea. Another bad idea is riding in the back of a pickup truck." (LINK TO FULL ARTICLE)

I'm a little surprised that riding in the back of a truck hasn't been made illegal. I remember as a kid riding in the back of a truck constantly but those were simpler times.

These days you have to get your kid strapped up in a NASA suit to take him to Walgreens, so I'm surprised that some states allow you to drive around with humans rattling around in the back of your truck.

As far as the shoe thing, I feel like if they outlawed that it would be over stepping their bounds a bit. It would be like saying you had to wash your hands after peeing. Of course it's good practice but do we want Uncle Sam involved with it? I think not.
