Monday Morning Quarterback…Thoughts about Friday in Southern Utah
Transcript:
- Ran Sawyer put on a historical performance for the Flyers 325 total yards and 6 touchdowns. Dealing with a bad leg. Demanding the ball over and over again. Incredible gutsy performance by Sawyer. Jayson Malufau was everywhere, Aisa Lopati was vicious as a blocker and edge rusher, Kolo lynn, Mason Schumann layed the wood, Ethan Ott on the perimeter huge plays.
- Hurricane played the best game I've seen them play in a long time. Physical in the run game. Brody Jacobs, Conner Clyde, RJ Allred...Big plays. Special teams covering kicks and returning kicks. One for a Austyn McRoberts TD. Jaxon Winegar, Gage Huntsman, and Karston Walker combined for 34 tackles in the game. Incredible atmosphere in H-Town. Then after the game, after battling their guts out for 3 hours they go up into the stands in their shoulder pads and clean up garbage in the bleachers. Pretty impressive!
- Crimson Cliffs beat Cedar 36-14. McCord Christansen went crazy again for 174 yards.
- Desert Hills' defense slowed down Pine View's high octane throw game. Tytan Mason ran for 122 and two scores. Carson Curtis had 3 TFLs for Pine View and Beau Meredith and Isaac Borgeson each had a sack for DHills.
- Snow Canyon exploded in a 47-10 win. Joe Mack had 5 TDs. They open region next week at Cedar. Can't wait!

BYU's Run Game is Out of Excuses
Transcript:
In DC every administration surrounds the president with a chubby outer layer of people for protection. These are people who can eventually be scapegoated when something goes wrong. Expendables. Something big goes wrong...It wasn't the big guys fault it was actually some idiot advisor. Press release: We fired him. Took his key fob.
College football has these...they're called position coaches. BYU's scapegoat last year was offensive line coach Darrell Funk. BYU was 120th in the country last year. The problem was the O-Line coach. Now they have TJ Woods who everybody is excited about. He's been all over the country including at the holy grail of offensive line play Madison, Wisconsin. He has a bonafide power 4 running back talent in LJ Martin, he has consider me Miles Davis and big rumblin stumblin Ropati...he has a stellar leader in Connor Pay, talent in Weylin Lapuaho, and Caleb Etienne, and he has a conference that's indifferent about stopping the run. Even the good teams. Kansas State was 85 in the country last year at stopping the run in conference play, Oklahoma State was 100th, Kansas was 102nd. If Funk was the problem. Prove it. That's your shower thought we'll be right back!
Region Nine Game Week
Transcript:
Stansbury at Snow Canyon...Joe Mack, Biceps Reynolds, heck biceps Ence...Stansbury scored 34 points per game last year, finished 7-5, beat SC first game of the year by a couple scores. Return coleman dearden at QB who threw for 21 touchdowns last year. They have a new veteran head coach in Lee Leslie who's spent 41 seasons in coaching, this is first with the Stallions. let's go Warriors!
Springville at Dixie...Wyatt Truman second year in the Flyers' system, usually when magic starts to happen. Ran Sawyer? Run Sawyer at running back, Aisa Lopati leads a young defense. How good is Springville gonna be? They graduated a handful of DI players, but are picked right behind Timpview in Region 7. Your playing Wisconsin. double tight ends. two backs. They've always got a Ron Dayne comin at ya. Let's go Flyers...
Desert Hills at Faith Lutheran...who the heck knows. Desert Hills is bigger than the Serbian Basketball team. Simon Fauiletolo and Tytan Mason are like Emmitt Smith and Nate Newton. Cyrus Polu can do anything he wants. Faith Lutheran went 9-4 last year. And they're mascot is a crusader. That's all I got. Go Thunder...
Mountain Crest at Hurricane. Coach Cowan left the dynasty of Duchesne, the Corner Canyon of 2A football, to come and turn around a once mighty program. It starts with Mountain Crest who won this game 35-0 last year. I think it'll go better this year. Watch out for newcomer Brody Jacobs! Go Tigers!
Crimson Cliffs at Morgan...Do you ever worry about Ohio State graduating a bunch of seniors? That's what Crimson is becoming in 4A. Mckay wright, Malakai Alofipo, McCord Christiansen, and 19 rookies are going to Morgan. I bet a handful of those 19 rookies will be all-staters by the end of the year. Morgan is picked first in the 3A north rankings. What elese is new. Go Mustangs
Pine View at Manti! The Panthers have a new QB1 in Levi Shaw who will be throwing to one of the most dangerous weapons in the state. How will the run game go this year for Pine View. They've gotten better year over year going into Coach Boyer's third season at the helm. Manti went to the state title last year in 3A. They're the favorites in 3A south this year. Go Panthers.
Cedar City at Richfield! Cedar new coach Tye Hiatt takes over for the Reds and has his work cut out for him early taking on Richfield the defending 3A champs. Everett Kelling and Krew Giles have a heck of a connection brewing up in Iron County. Go Reds! We'll see ya Friday Night!
