Redditor Asks if “Your Utah Education has Put You Behind”
I don't understand the narrative about Utah schools not being good.
I'm from another state, but my perception is that the high schools in Utah in regard to the students, is on another level. The kids all seem to be good kids who aren't on drugs and it also seems like there's a lot of parents involved with the school work. When you show up to a sporting event there's parents and grandparents there. So to me it doesn't make sense. What percentage of the students are graduating? Going to college?
According to WorldPopulationView.com, Utah is graduating 93 percent of it's high school students which is tenth in the nation.
That seems pretty good to me.
I know the teachers are infamously paid bad in Utah but apart from that the students seem to be getting through school and performing well.
Here's the post I'm referring to:

Here's a comment that supports my opinion:

"Both of my parents were very involved in supporting my education. I just went to public school and we didn't have access to or funds for tutors or anything, but it was very prioritized in my home and they spent a lot of time and effort helping us. It seems everyone else who did really well for themselves from my hometown had a lot of help outside school. I'll also say it seemed like many of my teachers tried really hard but many also truly could not care less.
I came from a pretty rural area so I think specifying my school district would be doxxing adjacent. But there's a good chance you've heard about bad stuff from my alma mater lol"
So to me the education system in Utah is underrated in part because of the Utah culture and how much it values education.
