Could New State Holiday Be Coming for Utah?
There is a bill in the state congress S.B. 193 that is proposing adding Good Friday as a state holiday in Utah.
Apparently 12 other states recognize it as an official holiday.
According to the Deseret News:
"If the bill passes, Good Friday would be like any other state holiday, where it would be designated as a day off for companies and institutions that decide to take it off.
“Currently, we have 12 state holidays and it would add another day. You know, you have Thanksgiving and Christmas, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Juneteenth, July 24, July 4. Some of those, many of those are state and national holidays,” State Senator Keven Stratton said. (LINK TO FULL ARTICLE)

In the past they've discussed a "personal preference day" where state employees are able to choose a day they want to take off.
My Dumb Opinion About Good Friday Being a State Holiday in Utah
Of course this should be a state holiday.
What are we doing? Trying to please the corporate overlords?
We're all gonna be dead in about a half hour. Let's get out and see Zion.
The Catholics have been right all along about this.
In my opinion, all months should have no less than five holidays.
Every Monday we should be out on the beach with one of those metal detectors.
I understand the fear is that we'll turn into those losers in Europe who work three days a week and take a four hour siesta every day. But I feel like we wouldn't take advantage.
Let's keep it tight, but heavens, let's make Good Friday a state holiday.
