SUU Women's Soccer went down on Sunday n devastating fashion. Here is the press release from SUU Athletics Media Relations

CEDAR CITY, Utah -- On Sunday, Oct. 1, the Southern Utah University women's soccer team welcomed California Baptist University for a conference matchup.

The first half was a defensive showcase for both teams, neither team being able to find the back of the net despite four shots on goal from the Thunderbirds. This led to a 0-0 tie at halftime.

The second half followed much of the same script, despite an increased offensive effort from SUU who finished with eight shots on goal. But in the 86th minute, the Lancers were able to draw a foul in the box and were rewarded with a penalty kick attempt, and Sanja Lux was able to finish it.

Just a minute later the Lancers would seal the deal against the Thunderbirds, when a counter attack from junior Lauryn White found the back of the net, giving the Lancers the 2-0 win.

The loss moves the Thunderbirds to 0-7-5 on the season and 0-2-1 in conference play. With the win, California Baptist moves to 7-1-5 overall and 2-0-2 in Western Athletic Conference play.

Quotes from Kai Edwards
"We gave everything we had versus a really good team today. We had a lot of goal-scoring opportunities and our defense held up very nicely. CBU is a conference tournament team for a reason, they figured out a way to win it late. Next week is very important, need to go out and execute, Thursday will be an important result for us."
