There's a guy new guy named Benson Boone. His song plays on the radio every seven seconds. He won a bunch of awards for it and he does backflips off of a piano he's like if Elton John was a gymnast and sang about girls. He's good I like him. And this is as good as his life will get. Brand new. Big hit. Awards. This spring is his peak. He'll never have more fun. Because in a couple months it's back to the drawing board. He's not gonna have another song this popular, people are gonna get worn out. Drugs, he impregnates a somebody, it gets harder from here.

This is the same thought I had this weekend seeing Jake Retzlaff at the BYU basketball game. Big man on campus. He's coming off an 11 win season. His marketing is excellent everybody knows the BY Jew. And I thought...this spring is as good as it can be for Retzlaff. Spring ball is low pressure, he's basking in a great season, he's worshipped in Provo. When is the last time a quarterback at BYU returned after an 11 win season? Not Jaren Hall. Not Zach Wilson. Not the Domanator. It's a rare position to be in for Retzlaff. I love him. He's a great player and a great person. I'm just saying in a couple months it's back to the drawing board. And it's gonna be hard to replicate. Is he a one hit wonder? Only time will tell!
