This Week’s Most Valuable Citizen in St. George Utah is…
MVP of the Week: Dallas Clifford (President of the Utah Tech Stampede student section)
Reasoning
This dude has been hustling all year to pack the Burns' Arena or "The Heater" as they call it nowadays.
On Saturday, against Utah Tech's biggest rival (I don't care that they haven't played consistently since Eisenhower was president), Clifford brought the house down.
Thanks to his tireless efforts as Prez of the Stampede the Burns was a legitimate "hostile environment" for the visiting team. See below:
Longtime Dixie State / Utah Tech photographer and supporter, Stan Plewe couldn't believe his eyes:
The most important part of all of this is that Utah Tech won the game.
I believe they were 4 or 5 point underdogs at home to SUU, who is second in the WAC standings and a legitimate candidate to make the NCAA tournament this year if they can win the conference tourney in Vegas in a few weeks.
SUU's star Tevian Jones was held to just 10 points on 2 of 12 shooting from the field
UTU was lead by the electric Cam Gooden who lead all scorers with 26 points. The Trailblazers shot 9 of 19 from three point range and rode the energy of the crowd to an 86-79 upset win over the Thunderbirds.
