Jimmer Fredette has a chance to add to his legend this Summer.

I can already hear Utah fans scoffing at the term "legend" for Jimmer. But I don't wanna hear it!

Fredette, flamed out in the NBA. Fine. We get it.

But he stuck with it and has had a nice overseas career and this Summer has a chance to get a gold medal at the FIBA 3x3 World Cup.

That's right!

Per BYUCougars.com:

Former BYU men’s basketball star Jimmer Fredette will represent the United States at the 2023 FIBA 3x3 World Cup in Rathausplatz Vienna, Austria on May 30 – June 4.

The 2011 Naismith Award Winner will make his World Cup debut alongside teammates Dylan Travis, Canyon Barry and Kareem Maddox. Last year, the quartet won the AmeriCup in Miami, Fla., with Fredette hitting the game winning shot against Puerto Rico. (Link to Full Article)

Fredette has already had a lot of success in the 3x3 game including a game winner to win the AmeriCup Championship this past Fall.

If things go right, Fredette could be playing in the Olympics in Paris in 2024. This has been his goal since getting into 3x3 basketball.

From the Deseret News:

“I am doing some 3-on-3 basketball. Team USA asked me to come and see if it’s something I may be interested in, maybe looking to qualify for an Olympic run in the 2024 Olympics,” he told his hometown paper in Glen Falls, New York. “It’s been fun.” (Link to Full Article)

I've always liked Jimmer and was amazed that he could never stick in the NBA. I'll be rooting for him starting today at the FIBA World Cup.
