The Challenge for BYU and Richie Saunders this Year
Shower Thought - November 4, 2025
Most of LeBrons great teams had a lost will to live player. This was a former super star who left Toronto or Minnesota or New Orleas to come and play with LeBron, and brought with them a lot of excitement, and Hey LeBron I'm an alpha too isn't this crazy, and we're going to do great things together, but after a month or two it became clear that Kevin Love not only didn't want to play basketball anymore he wanted to put a beanie on and move to Idaho. Same could be said about Chris Bosh and Anthony Davis. Guys who were former number ones that later became tertiary players. Stand in the corner, if you get the ball don't screw it up. You're no longer a free man. Shut up and stand in the shadow.
For BYU basketball that man this season is Richie Saunders. Saunders was BYU's best player last year. Floppy hair energy guy tunrned number one option. He finished the season a first team all big 12 player. He shot 43% from 3. He made the big shot against Iowa State last year in the conference tournament. He's full of life, vigor and vim. This year he's in risk of becoming the lost boy for the Cougars. He's now the number three option. The ball isn't going to whip around as freely as it did last year, and although he had a good game last night, this season is going to be less fun for him. How will he adapt to the new role. We'll see...
