The Dixie Flyers beat the Snow Canyon Warriors last night at Flyer field 4-0.

Here's some of my thoughts...

Cayson Bell Brings it (Again)

Bell is a killer.

He had 10 strikeouts and only allowed three hits against an awesome lineup.

What might be most impressive is he didn't give up an extra-base hit to a team that is slugging .643 as a team.

Bell's ability to spot his four-seam fastball on the outer-half of the plate (he's reached 94 m.p.h. this year) and then fool hitters with his curveball, even when he gets behind in the count, is impressive.

Max Orton Scores Em All

Orton accounted for all four runs for the Flyers.

The junior drilled a two run single in the first inning, then brought in another run when he walked with the bases loaded, and singled again later in the game with a runner on third to get his fourth RBI.

Trace Franco (Appliance Wholesaler's Plus Defensive Play of the Game)

In the third inning, Ryder Harrison smoked one deep into centerfield. It looked to me like it was going to be an easy double for Harrison who has had an awesome season slugging for the Warriors. But Franco pivoted and chased the ball down and made an amazing over the shoulder catch for Dixie.

Snow Canyon

It was a weird outing for Coden Herman. The first batter he faced hit a triple out to left field that was up in the air for a long time. Had it been caught, he likely doesn't give up two runs in the first inning and the tenor of the game changes a little bit.

He only gave up three earned runs while striking out six batters. He finishes the season 3-1.

WHAT SHOULD WE NAME THE CEDAR CITY LIGHTHOUSE?

The lighthouse at Providence Point in Cedar City is majestic enough to have a name. But what should that name be?
