Hurricane Tigers Ready To Roar In The New Football Season
With Region 9 football season right around the corner, let’s take a quick peak into what we can look forward to this upcoming year by understanding where these teams were a season ago.
Today we look at the Hurricane Tigers.
Last Year’s Record:
Overall: 5-7
Region 9: 2-4
Wins:
VS Hillcrest 56-14
VS Pine View 34-27
AT Snow Canyon 35-7
VS San Juan 32-28
VS Cedar 37-14 (Playoffs Round 1)
Last year’s Biggest run:
Hurricane’s first and only two game win streak came at the right time as they won their first consecutive game of the season by defeating Cedar in the first round of the 4A postseason.
The win not only advanced the Tigers but avenged a regular season loss in Iron County earlier on in the season displaying Hurricane’s growth as a team.
The first part of the streak came the week before when Hurricane pulled off a hard fought 32-28 victory over San Juan.
In both wins Hurricane hung 32 or more points.
In three games from August 30th to September 13th Hurricane went 2-1 while averaging 41.7 points in that span.
Last year’s end result:
Hurricane’s season saw them secure the 16th seed in the 4A playoffs, ensuring they had home field advantage where they would take down Region foe, Cedar, 37-14 in impressive 2nd half fashion out at H-town.
That victory placed them directly in front of the # 1 seed Ridgeline Riverhawks, who would take down the Tigers in Cache Valley with a 45-7 final.

Wins as Underdog last season, based on Noland Parry’s Power Guide of the Deseret News:
4
4 of Hurricane’s 5 wins this last season came as the underdog per Parry’s power guide.
Pine View, Snow Canyon, San Juan and Cedar in the first round of the playoffs were all the “favored teams” before falling to the Tigers.
Consecutive Streak:
The Tigers surpassed 100 rushing yards in every single game this year.
That’s 12 games of ground and pound excellence.
1st game of the 2025 season:
VS Virgin Valley Bulldogs on August 15th.
The Tigers welcome the fellas from Mesquite for a week 1 out of state battle.
With a bevy of talent and production returning it’s hard not to be excited about what Hurricane could accomplish this next season.
Things are as bright as they've been for a while in H-town and the Tigers are eager to show why.
