Region 9 Football Kicks off Tomorrow: What You Need to Know

Tomorrow is the much anticipated day in which Region 9 High School Football returns here in the beehive state.

The helmets are buffed, the playlist is saved, the cleats shined and the paint sits fresh on the gridiron.

The Friday night lights may not kick on until about 9:00 this time of year, but that wont stop the celebration of football being back in action for our Region 9 family.

In years past, Week 1 was a time to iron out wrinkles, work out the kinks, seek overall improvement against an out of region, out of classification or maybe even out of state opponent.

All that stuff is still essential to nail down in preseason, but in the era of the RPI, every single game plays into where a team finds themselves come the postseason.

These games may not carry the sway of a rivalry contest between two region opponents, but they factor into the end of the season just as much.

So with little room for error, here come your 7 Region 9 teams looking to start the season off with a shiny 1-0 record next to their place in the standings, and with no in region match-ups there is a legit chance that could take place.

STANSBURY STALLIONS AT SNOW CANYON WARRIORS

The Warriors once again open the season against fellow 4A foe, Stansbury, looking to unleash that Warriors defense.

MOUNTAIN CREST MUSTANGS AT HURRICANE TIGERS

Another familiar 4A VS 4A showdown as the Hurricane Tigers and Mountain Crest Mustangs square off in week 1 for the 3rd straight year.

One of the longest running week 1 faceoffs continues on between the 4A Dixie Flyers and the 5A Springville Red Devils.
