Ok, maybe the title of this article is slightly misleading.

As much as we love the Jazz most fans would have a hard time pointing out any “must watch” games for this iteration of the Utah Jazz.

Not only is it year three of an ongoing rebuild, but it’s already established itself as one of the worst competitive rebuild season’s right out of the gate with 2 wins in 9 games and an average margin of defeat that sits at 19.3 points.

Not only are the Jazz losing, but they are doing so in rather brutal fashion, but hey they have won two of their last three games!

We all knew tuning into games this year wouldn’t be due to the hope of a championship or even a playoff focused season, but rather to see if any of the young bucks would show flashes of development that could help the team build for the future.

Previous season’s “must watch” games were all about playing the championship favorites, the rivals, the teams that had spunk to see if the Jazz could match that skill, speed and tenacity.

This year it’s all about how cool the opponent is or how weird the matchup is.

If whoever is playing Utah has the big name, an excellent record or a former beloved player, that’s who fans will show up to see the most this season.

So without further ado, here’s your top 3 games played in Salt Lake City that a Jazz fan can get their money's worth on a ticket without worrying about if the Jazz do or do not play particularly well.

These are in no specific order, rank them as you will.

1. UTAH JAZZ VS MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES //// JANUARY 30TH, 2025

If you yearn for the olden days of when the Jazz were sitting atop the Western conference and winning first round playoff matchups, look no further than the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The fellas from the Twin Cities are basically the Utah Jazz of 2021, with Mike Conley, Rudy Gobert, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, and Joe Ingles all taking up roster spots on last year’s western conference runner up.

With the exception of Ingles, you can expect them to be a major part of Minnesota’s success as the season rolls on.

Unlike players of years past who get dealt heavy boo’s when returning to Utah, these are guys Jazz fans enjoyed cheering for and with whom very few have any negativity towards.

After all, none of them spurned Utah, as the Jazz traded each and every one of these guys away on the organization's own accord.

If you want to see familiar faces without the peer pressure of booing a former player, this is the game for you.

2. UTAH JAZZ VS OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER, FEBRUARY 21ST, 2025

Like Robin watching Batman, the Thunder are what the Jazz could one day be.

A team saddled with draft capital and cap flexibility wading through years of rough losses and little progress to suddenly catapult to contender status as a hard earned rebuild pays off.

The Thunder are 9-2 to start this season and as electric as they come.

Only two season removed from a sub .500 record at 40-42, the Thunder began their rebuild in 2020 5 seasons ago.

They went 22-50, 24-58, and the aforementioned 40-42 before exploding onto the scene with a 57-25 record last season, reserving the #1 seed in the West.

They were the youngest team in NBA history to claim a #1 seed, and cemented themselves as one of the quickest and most effective rebuilds in sports history.

The Thunder are the NBA blue print for a perfect rebuild, and Jazz fans can see it in action while thinking to themselves that the juggernaut they see before them only won 24 games three years ago.

3. UTAH JAZZ VS PORTLAND TRAILBLAZERS, APRIL 9TH 2025

There may not be a more impactful game on Utah’s schedule this year, and I am not referring to the game itself being any good.

The Portland Trailblazers are a train wreck, starting the year 3-8 with little to no hope of actually being competitive this year.

In the Western conference there is no bigger threat to Utah’s lottery odds and landing the #1 overall draft selection than the Blazers.

With a starting lineup of Shaedon Sharpe, Anfernee Simons, DeAndre Ayton, Jerami Grant and Toumani Camara, Portland has their eyes on the college level just as much as Utah.

With this game happening in the last three games of the year, it will be a classic contest on who can actually be worse.

Expect random injury reports, weird rotations and pure minor league basketball shenanigans.

It should be cheap tickets, and good fun, as fans cheer for the Jazz to drop a game to a team that's trying to do the same.

Both teams are attempting to capture the Flagg, but only one can truly be the worst.
