45 days is all that stands between gamers and the brand new Nintendo Switch 2.

Set to release on June 5th here in the United States, the console can be pre-ordered this Thursday the 24th of April for fans who are eager to attach their name to it.

The newest marvel in the gaming world will start at $449.99 and is sure to garner a lot of interest as it begins the newest console life cycle on the market.

But what does the fancy specifications and newest hardware mean without an appealing new game to play it with?

Who cares about the controller layout, loading speeds or the potential accessories without something to use it all on?

Think about it, which sick individual bought the PlayStation 2 just to use it as a DVD player?

Hopefully not you.

A new console means a new generation of video games, they go hand in hand.

Releasing a new console to play old games, even if they are a bit faster or a bit prettier, will only appeal to a very select few.

The new console draws interest, but new games help justify the hefty purchase price for many, myself included.

So, when this console drops here in month and a half, what’s going to come alongside it?

For starters, how about the next in line to a game that sold 67 plus units on the original Nintendo Switch?

The next Mario Kart game, dubbed “Mario Kart World” will drop alongside the Switch 2 on launch day even coming as a digital “bundle” option with those buying the system for $499.

It’s likely bound to be a big deal as most Mario Kart titles are with Mario and friends doing the usual style of Kart racing, complete with projectiles and speed, but this time in an open-world setting with exploration modes as an option.

It wouldn’t be a new console without reintroducing some of the same games with new and improved features and functions.

Both The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and it’s sequel Tears of the Kingdom will get the “reformed” treatment on June 5th.

The new and improved formula will have better resolution and smoother frame rate’s, making it the optimal way to play the games.

For Tears of the Kingdom, added features will include a notes option as well as voice controls and the ability to share recipes in the game with other players.

Yay.

The game upgrades will be $10.00 for both games or for those who are a part of the “Switch Online Expansion pack” it will be free, outside of your membership of course.

A recent trend of new consoles with ground breaking features is utilizing a “demo” game that shows off the console in every possible way.

Similar to the PlayStation 5 having Astro’s playroom, the Switch 2 will have “Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour”.

The gameplay will coincide with the exact features and functions that the Switch 2 provides through a series of games and demos.

Unlike Astro’s playroom however, the game does not come free with the system and will be a paid product.

Another big selling point may very well be the ability to access select GameCube classics such as Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, Pokemon Colosseum, Luigi’s Mansion and Super Mario Strikers.

These aren’t launch titles but will be a big selling point nonetheless as physical copies of older games are not cost friendly.

Just type in “Pokemon Colosseum” on eBay to find out more.

Other launch titles on June 5th will include:

Arcade Archives 2: Ridge Racer

Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster

It’s impossible to say how good these games will actually be, it’s an unknown until it isn't, but Nintendo has a great track record with epic launch title games, boding well for Mario Kart World at the least.

The Game Boy had Tetris.

The SNES had Super Mario World.

The Nintendo 64 had Super Mario 64.

The GameCube had…… Super Monkey Ball.

Both the Nintendo Wii and Original Switch had Legend of Zelda titles in Twilight Princess and Breath of the Wild.

Long story short, put Mario or Zelda on a console opening day and it’s going to have a good time.

And that is what the Switch 2 intends to do.
