Utah, The Switch 2 Announcement Is Nigh

Few brands are as recognizable as Nintendo.

It doesn’t matter if you have a PlayStation or an Xbox, there’s a high chance a relative over the age of 50 will refer to any video game console they come across as a “Nintendo.”

To many, video games are Nintendo, and Nintendo is video games all in the same.

Proof in point would be the Nintendo Switch console, released in 2017 after being announced in late 2016.

The entertainment system provided home, on the couch, console gaming, with the option to take it on the go as a portable.

Like a modern Gamecube that could travel like a Game Boy, the Switch officially surpassed the PlayStation 2 as the highest selling video game home console In the United States.

With that much success and recognition, one could imagine fans were incredibly excited to get a peak of what’s next on Nintendo’s docket, at the beginning of the year they got exactly that.

On Thursday, the 16^th of January, Nintendo released a small snippet of what fan’s could expect for the latest and greatest console to hit the market.

The unit is certainly larger than the original Switch allowing for even greater enjoyment while on the go.

We can likely expect it to be beefier with better graphics and quicker load speeds.

The controllers themselves (also larger) will transfer from a manual slide on style to a magnetic clip that will snap the detachable controller back into place.

The trailer even gave a tease into the next iteration of Mario Kart, a game yet to be fully revealed with full anticipation of it being a console exclusive released when the new system hits the market.

Outside of upcoming unannounced exclusive titles, the clip also declared that most pre-existing Switch games would be compatible with the new console.

This means that the collection you’ve gathered since 2017 is still very much valid on the newest hardware.

Outside of a gander and minimal information, the main purpose of the January announcement was to announce another announcement.

Nintendo is set for a very soon Nintendo Direct (a fancy way of saying showcase) laying out all things Nintendo Switch 2 on April 2^nd, 2025.

With things such as but not limited to, price, release date and upcoming exclusive games still very much unknown, fans will be eagerly anticipating the event that takes place less than 10 days from today.

With new consoles come new games, new collector editions and new hardware to salivate over, and you can bet video gamers will be anticipating the newest in Nintendo’s pipeline.

The stream is set for early in the morning, 7 AM mountain time to be precise, so be sure to set your alarm.

Or just sleep regularly and wake up and watch the reveal as you brush your teeth, they won’t forget to announce it if you miss the live stream, most likely.
