Where to Watch the IRONMAN 70.3 in St. George, UT

The 2023 Intermountain Health IRONMAN 70.3 North American Championship is this Saturday in St. George.

These are the best endurance athletes in the world so let's keep the whining about traffic to a minimum.

SWIM

The swim portion is the craziest part to me. Maybe it's just because I can't swim, but the mayhem in the water when everybody gets going should be pretty fun to watch. Here are some details about how to get your spot to watch...

"Sand Hollow Reservoir in Hurricane is one of most unique and scenic swim venues on the IRONMAN circuit. The crystal blue waters make ideal swim conditions for athletes. Sunrises here can be indescribable, and the desert scenery is unlike anywhere in the world.

 

To view the Start at Sand Hollow, spectators can board shuttles at 100 South, near Main Street at Shuttles will run beginning at 4:20 a.m. with athletes having priority boarding from 4:20-6 a.m. It is estimated that spots for spectators will be available around 5:30 a.m. To catch the shuttle, spectators can park around downtown, making sure watch for extra pedestrians and traffic in the area, and observing all street and traffic laws and signage. (Link to full site)

BIKE

This might be one of the most scenic portions of the race and if you have kids this might be the most action packed portion of the race too:

At mile 41, the course turns left onto Snow Canyon Drive to take athletes up the signature climb on the course. The stunning four-mile climb through Snow Canyon State Park features nearly 1,100-feet of elevation gain. The road is closed, but spectators can watch the cyclists by walking along the paved trail alongside Snow Canyon Drive. Park on surface streets in Ivins and make your way to the path. Entrance to the park is free for pedestrians during the race. No vehicles are allowed. (Link to full site)
