Will Hardy Blasts Team After Utah Loss
The Jazz had lost 56 times in 72 tries this year going into last nights home game.
So when they were smacked around by the Memphis Grizzlies in a 37 point loss last night, people didn’t think much of it.
After all, it’s the most commonly known untold secret that Utah is angling for a top draft pick and has little interest in stacking wins this late into the season.
Besides, the Memphis Grizzlies are in the thick of fighting for home court advantage in the first round of the playoffs and were clearly the better team.
So it shouldn’t have mattered if Utah was outscored 41-17 in the 3rd quarter and 76-38 in the 2nd half as whole right?
It probably didn’t matter that Utah was out rebounded 33-8 in the 2nd half? Probably?
The 22 to 8 assist advantage for Memphis in the 3rd and 4th was fine im sure.
Allowing the Grizzlies to shoot nearly 60 percent from the field and almost 46 percent from deep in that 2nd half, as tough as it was to watch just had to be forgotten, correct?
Well the answer to these questions would be: Wrong, not right, incorrect, and false.
It was not ok, and 3rd year Head Coach Will Hardy made it apparent he was NOT pleased at all with the effort demonstrated that followed Utah’s 1-point halftime lead.
Here’s some of the comments Coach Hardy made after the loss:
Clearly someone, or a group of someone’s didn’t play to Hardy’s ambitions nor expectations regardless of the win or loss.
As a couch who understands the team is young, inexperienced and lacking some skills that other team’s have, you aren’t always upset at the end result, but rather the small things in between.
Shooting, dribbling, passing can all be improved upon game upon game, season upon season, but hard work, cohesiveness and team oriented ball are intangibles that players have to buy into themselves, and that seems to be what Hardy found the most disappointment in.
Can Utah answer Hardy’s rally call when they play Houston at home this Thursday, or are we in for another soulless performance?
Tip off is scheduled for 7:00 mountain time.
