UTAH SHOCKED…Biggest New Star in Music Grew up Mormon??

It's always fun to go through the list of famous people who are or once were Mormon. 

There was always rumors about Steve Martin or Tom Hanks.

Two-Face from Batman.

Katherine Heigl.

Et cetera.

But when I found out the guy who's song plays on the radio right now every three and a half minutes grew up Mormon I was shocked.

Benson Boone, baby.

Did you know this?

He went to BYU-Idaho for goodness sakes.

According to FoxNews: (LINK TO FULL ARTICLE)

"After high school, the Washington native enrolled at Brigham Young University (BYU), a private college in Provo, Utah, that is owned and operated by the LDS Church. Students and faculty at BYU are required to adhere to a strict set of guidelines under the Church Educational System (CES) Honor Code."

But I don't think he ever attended in person, and I think he ended up at BYU-Idaho for a semester but there's conflicting information.

He also was on American Idol before dropping out of school and the show to focus on his career.

He grew up in Washington state in a Mormon family and his parents are still Mormon while Benson says he basically doesn't believe in just one religion. According to the article:

"Though his parents, Kerry and Nate Boone, remain committed to the LDS Church, Boone shared that his decision to distance himself from Mormonism hasn't affected his relationship with them.

"My parents definitely have their own views, but when it comes to religion and God, they want me to figure it out on my own," he said. "And whatever I come to, and whatever I feel is right, that’s what they want for me."'

I was just surprised. I knew about him for a couple of months and knew how big he had gotten and then just found out yesterday he has LDS roots.
