Logan Cooley Shows Utah Major Love
Utah has a lot of things that it loves.
Dirty soda, overly rich cookies, national parks, skiing, and of course their sports.
From High School to the Pro’s, Utah has a love for it all.
If I have learned anything in my years of being a Utah sports homer, it’s that the only thing Utah fans love more than the team themselves, is when the players of the teams give them love back.
Yes, it’s cool to cheer on your favorite players of your state’s team, but it’s even cooler when that players gives the fans recognition or when they talk about how much they love the organization or the city they play in.
It makes them seem a bit more relatable, moving the needle from “superstar who doesn’t even know who I am” to “fellow Utahn who doesn’t even know who I am.”
And that feels like it has less distance.
With the Utah Hockey Club emerging last year as the newest NHL franchise, the list of sports to love has widened for Utah.
Since this is a first time experience, many fans filled with Utah pride have enjoyed seeing how new players, coaches and staff have reacted to Utah.
The reviews have been overwhelmingly positive, from opposing players to the commissioner of the NHL himself, Gary Bettman.
And to add to it all, young franchise superstar center in the making, Logan Cooley, just gave Utah more to feel proud of.
Cole Bagley of KSL sports shared a video just a day ago showing Cooley’s reaction to being asked if he wanted to be in Utah for the long haul:
It’s a 24 second response and everything in it is tailored to Utah and it’s fanbase.
Starting off with a “For Sure” Cooley goes on to explain that this “is the most fun ive had playing hockey.”
Strong words for someone who has played hockey for the majority of their twenty year old life.
As far as the location not only does he “love living here” he appreciates how much Utah has bought into the game of hockey.
“Love the atmosphere, the rink, the ownership, just everything about it honestly.”
When it comes to suiting up for the brand new franchise, he describes it as a “special feeling, putting that Utah jersey on and going out there and trying to get these fans a win.”
Fans of the soon to be Mammoth/Outlaws/Hockey Club have already seen the team as a special acquisition as Utah grows and continues to make itself known world wide.
So to hear that someone on the team also views it as special will go a long long way in making Cooley a fan favorite.
As if his play didn’t already do that.
Cooley, currently battling injury, will be reevaluated after the NHL season break, with his team set to take on the Los Angeles Kings on the 22nd of February.
The Club is currently trailing Vancouver by six points for the last Wild Card Spot in the West.
