Saying Goodbye to These Mowers in Utah?
There's nothing like being woken up at 8 a.m. on a Saturday morning by your eager beaver neighbor mowing his lawn.
And your wife saying: "Why can't you be a real man like Jim? He mows his lawn every weekend and I bet his wife doesn't even have to pester him."
And you say: "I bet his wife makes brownies every once in a while"
And then she says: "I'm calling my mother."
Well, if things keep going the way they are it might not be long until gas powered mowers are given the heave-ho in Utah. John Deere is would be rolling in his grave.
California already is cracking down on gas mowers and not because of how loud they are. It all has to do with their precious environment.
Utah has introduced legislation to limit lawn mowing on bad air days. They've also done things like offering residents $500 to change from a gas powered mower to electric.

"In an effort to combat this type of pollution, Salt Lake City is currently hosting its first city-run landscaping equipment exchange.
“The whole goal of this program is to help improve air quality,” Nicholas said. “Gas-powered landscaping equipment is pretty polluting, string trimmers and leaf blowers in particular.”
Honestly, I have an electric mower because my lawn is the size of a postage stamp. But if I had more lawn I'd probably want the big boy. I'm not sure how much traction this will get in Utah. Maybe in the next 20 years.
What are your thoughts? Would you have accepted $500 to go electric? Like Bob Dylan.
