One of the best parades is Thanksgiving morning because they have Woody Woodpecker and Snoopy and Mickey Mouse and Felix the Cat and Charlie Brown and Kung Fu Panda and your kids only know who two of those things are but you like it.

And the parade is the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Macy's!

Well, unfortunately Macy's has announced even more store closings in 2025. That's right, 150 more Macy's will be shutdown by 2026.

According to goodhousekeeping.com: (Link to Full Article)

"As announced last year, Macy's department stores across the United States have been closing as part of a wider plan to shut down 150 locations through 2026. Last year, Macy's shuttered 50 locations. In 2025, the company is planning to close 66 stores in total."

Jeez. Macy's is a big old brand and they're shutting down? What's next JCPenny? Sears and Roebuck?

Luckily there's a silver lining.

Utah only has two Macy's. One in Salt Lake and one in Murray.

And as of now, there are no reports of either of those closing up shop. So if you're a big Macy's shopper around the holidays or whatever hopefully they'll still be there at the end of the year.

Here's a list of the stores closing in our region:

  • Arizona: Superstition Springs Center
  • California: Broadway Plaza (Los Angeles), Hillsdale (Furniture), Sunrise Mall, Westminster Mall, NewPark Mall, Mission Valley Home, Otay Ranch Town Center, Village at Corte Madera, and Downtown Plaza
  • Colorado: Northfield Stapleton
  • Idaho: Silver Lake Mall
