Before you get all riled up, the title has nothing to with the atmosphere, fanbase, or support of the Utah Jazz or Utah Hockey Club in Utah.

I have always believed, and always will, that Utah has some of the most passionate and involved fans in the world of pro sports.

That is why it’s been a somewhat tough scene this year to see how the Utah Jazz and Utah Hockey Club have rewarded the diehards during home games.

The newest team in the NHL also has the worst home winning percentage in the NHL, with 6 wins, 10 losses and 4 overtime losses.

The energy in a brand new city, with an excited fanbase and an actual real arena was supposed to elevate the team to new heights on home ice.

Despite all the praise from players and coaches on the Delta Center and the environment, it hasn’t shone through in the results column as the Club has lost 6 of their last 7 games in Salt Lake City.

In the case of the Utah Jazz, The Delta Center is known as an intimidating venue in which visiting teams have historically struggled due to a combination of altitude and spiking decibel counts due to Jazz nation.

And even in the midst of a rebuilding season, many would be surprised to know that the Jazz have a record of 3 wins and 15 losses in front of the home town faithful, including last nights loss to the Charlotte Hornets.

The Jazz have 4 more wins on the road this year than they do in Salt Lake City, which also translates to the worst home game winning percentage in the NBA.

Combining the Hockey Club and the Jazz, both teams are past the halfway point of their respective 82 game seasons, with the Jazz playing 18 home games to this point and the Hockey Club playing 20 times in Utah.

This means that If you somehow, someway, attended every Jazz and Hockey Club game in Salt Lake City so far this year you would have been present for 38 games, and witnessed a total of 9 wins between both squads.

As of today, if you show up to the Delta Center for a Jazz or Hockey Club game, the hometown team has a 23.6 % chance of actually winning.

So if you've been enjoying your time at the Delta Center a bit less than per usual, the statistics support you there by demonstrating that the amount of winning in the house that Larry built has been trending downwards.

For the Jazz they hope the struggles result in shiny high end lottery pick, whereas the Hockey Club hopes that the ship is righted sooner rather than later as they cling to slim playoff chances.

The Jazz won’t get another shot on the home hardwood until December 23rd against the Wizards whereas the Hockey Club will host the New York Rangers tonight at 7:00.
